Your role and responsibilities
The Software Engineer will play a key role in the development of complex solutions that drive our products and services forward. Leveraging your extensive technical expertise, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop scalable and robust software systems. In this role, you will contribute to the growth and development of Laser Thermal's software engineering team and practices. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact, drive innovation, and shape the future of our technology offerings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development of software that interfaces with and enables Laser Thermal's tools along with other applications that increase the value of tool-acquired data
  • Help design and architect new software functionality before implementation
  • Develop an understanding of the structure and functionality of Laser Thermal's tools and software
  • Provide effective, independent ownership over delegated projects including implementation of major new functionality
  • Work with engineering teams to advise on the software impacts of product improvements and changes and troubleshooting of production problems
  • Write clean, testable code that embodies appropriate abstractions and architectural patterns
  • Involvement with all phases of the software development process including requirements analysis, technical design, testing, code review, documentation, and deployment
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience in software development, with a proven track record of contributing to complex codebases
  • Extensive experience with Python
  • Experience in interacting with SQL databases
  • Understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with creating user interfaces and operational software for industrial tools
  • Experience writing software that interacts directly with hardware components
  • Experience with distributed systems and understanding of their concurrency and communications characteristics
  • Experience with MATLAB
  • Experience with Machine Learning techniques
  • Understanding of matrix algebra, numerical integration, and linear regression
  • Basic understanding of the principles of Thermal Metrology

Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 annually
Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
